There are quite a few Masonic accounting software programs available on the market on which to keep the books for the lodge.

Like all software, some are easier to use out-of-the-box than others.  Without trying a demo or trial CD, it can be difficult to decide which one works the best.

Accounting programs can save you a lot of time.  They can be used to not only keep a lodge's books, (print Lodge expense reports, interest statements from CDs, savings accounts, charity fund, etc.) but to print off labels, print membership lists, manage meetings, type up lodge minutes, send group e-mails and more.  

Many lodge secretaries would like to know which program worked well before asking the lodge to purchase it.

Please Note: Before you begin researching which accounting package to use, you may wish to check with your Grand Lodge first, because many of them are instituting new online accessible software programs which the lodge secretary can simply login to the Grand Lodge website and update member information, addresses, dues information, or print a lodge member directory. This can reduce a lot of time spent by the lodge secretary in trying to keep this information updated. It's also VERY helpful when one secretary steps down from their office and a new secretary takes it over.
