I Was Raised To Be A Master Mason in 2011 At Age 59

by John Welsch
(Camp Verde, AZ, USA)

My Masonic journey started very late in life, but my zeal for association with such great men is no less than that of a 20 year old. I enjoy my memory work, entered the line as Senior Steward in my first year and was honored with an appointment to Junior Deacon my second year (this year).

I was further honored when the Master allowed me to sit in the East 7 months after I was raised for my son's initiation, and followed by sitting in the East again at his passing to Fellow Craft 2 months after.

While the memory work was wonderful, the honor of opening, obligating, and closing our Lodge at my son's first two degrees was a life changing experience brought about by a caring Master and supporting Brethren.

Why do I love Freemasonry? That's easy, it is made up of men that want nothing but the best for all of mankind as well as each other, and prove it through charitable acts every day of their lives.

While faith may be lost, and hope may end in fruition, charity lives beyond the grave...
