I think this was my grandfather's wedding ring. He was married to Ruth Holmes in Roslyn, WA, in 1918.

I have always admired this ring and feel very connected with my lineage because of wearing it now, as most of my family have passed from this life.

In 2003 I was given a copy of the Kybalion which I read countless times.

Last month, my father who inherited this ring from his father-in-law shook and moved his hand and the ring fell to the floor.

I picked it up and he said, "I will give you that ring if you will wear it."

It fit nicely on my right middle finger and I feel very comfortable wearing it. Many people have asked about it and say it is special.

I wonder if you can tell me something about this ring. My grandfather was Joe Booth and I think he was a practicing Mason throughout his life.

Thank you.

Carol Long

Simon:

Hi Carol,

Thanks for the photo, however, if you could take a closer up shot, it would be easier to view the ring's symbols.

Could you describe the symbols that you see on the ring, also?

Thanks!

For those unfamiliar with the book, Le Kybalion, which refers to a type of mystic psychology, which has to do with the art of changing and transforming one's own mental states and conditions, as well as influencing those of others.

Le Kybalion's mystic, (esoteric), hermetic arts are not a part of regular, modern Freemasonry.

Odd Fellows Ring
by: Anonymous

This is a ring from the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. It is not Masonic, but a similar fraternity.

The FLT stands for friendship, love, and truth. If you want to wear the ring, petition a local lodge, otherwise I would put it up for safe keeping.

Simon's Reply: Thanks for sharing. The I.O.O.F. (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) is another fraternal organization with a similar God-centric belief system.

If you would like to know more about it, here is the Wikipedia page about the Odd Fellows organization.
